iPad Mini 2 Rumors: Retina Display Takes Center Stage

The most notable feature of the iPad Mini 2 could be its screen: it seems to be a retina display, with high density being the added bonus.

Talk is resurfacing about the success of the popular iPad Mini, with some new rumors circulating regarding the potential arrival of an iPad Mini 2.
Specifically, anonymous Asian sources connected to some of Apple‘s suppliers suggest that the next iPad Mini 2 might feature a retina display.
This news – first reported by the magazine Brightwire – might seem almost predictable, given that retina display technology is now well-established for the Cupertino company.
However, what sparks curiosity is the revelation that the supplier “AU Optronics” is reportedly working on producing 7.9-inch displays with a resolution of 2048×1536 at 324ppi.
Therefore, the high pixel density would be the real innovation, coupled with the fact that this would also benefit developers. By having a new product with the same resolution as the widely used iPad, they would not find themselves needing to make modifications to adapt their work for the new iPad Mini 2.

If all of this is indeed confirmed, the iPad Mini 2 would become the tablet with the highest screen density, even surpassing the latest iPad model – a record certainly worth noting.
At the moment, there are no further details about Apple’s potential new mini tablet, but it’s rumored that its release could occur in the last quarter of 2013, in time to be a strong contender on holiday wish lists.
