A new high-end smartphone from Sony is about to be released: it’s called “Xperia ion” and will arrive in Italian stores this September.
The company itself is disseminating this information, also hinting at some of its key technical specifications, which are indeed noteworthy.
To begin with, the Sony Xperia ion will feature a 12-megapixel main camera with autofocus. Precise and bright, it will also stand out for its speed, taking just over a second to go from standby to capture. The sensor is an Exmor R, complemented by 16x digital zoom and an LED flash, useful even in low-light conditions.
Regarding the operating system, it will natively run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, while the processor is a 1.5GHz Dual-Core Processor.
The touchscreen display is large: it’s a 4.6-inch Reality Display with Mobile Bravia Engine, boasting a resolution of 1280×720 pixels at 342ppi and 16 million colors; all in HD, of course.
Internal memory is 16 GB, expandable with a microSD card. For connectivity, users can count on Bluetooth, WiFi, USB 2.0, HDMI, NFC, and DLNA.
Furthermore, the Sony Xperia ion is designed to connect to other screens: from tablets to TVs, DLNA connectivity can be leveraged to project the smartphone’s content beyond its own screen with just a quick tap.
A smartphone of this caliber could only be equipped with a long-lasting battery: in this case, a 1900 mAh unit has been chosen, promising good performance.
The price of the Sony Xperia ion is expected to be around 599 euros in Italy as well.
