Practical, easy to handle, sleek, and powerful: the Sony Nex-VG20 handycam presents itself like this at first glance.
It is, in practice, the successor to the Sony VG10, but it obviously features innovations, starting with the new sensor: a 16.1MP Exmor APS HD CMOS.
The screen is a TruBlack LCD, a 3-inch touch display, enhanced by a high resolution reaching 921,000 dots. Alongside it, you can notice the viewfinder, designed for those who prefer traditional shooting.
It is possible to record Full HD video clips with excellent results, thanks to the interchangeable lenses: this way, you’ll never be caught unprepared, being able to rely on the best possible equipment for the specific scene or environment you are filming in.
The audio department is also noteworthy: the Sony Nex-VG20 features high-quality stereo audio; in fact, it’s possible to record 5.1 channel surround audio. This is made possible by the included microphone, constructed with a quad-capsule design and spatial matrix.
Additional functions, selectable via the screen, also help in applying various effects to videos: of particular note are the cinematic-style HD video recordings, even in low-light conditions.
Everything is processed by the powerful and precise BIONZ processor, ensuring image sharpness and smooth shooting.
Finally, the bundled lens is an 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 with Optical SteadyShot.
The price of the Sony Nex-VG20 is 2300 euros, as suggested by Sony itself. Online – and particularly on Amazon – you can find lower prices.
