Leica is accustomed to creating special limited editions for its most prominent cameras: the Leica D-LUX 5 Titanium belongs precisely to this product category.
It is a truly elegant camera, with a titanium body – from which it obviously derives its name – and a leather case, signifying true class.
The striking exterior appearance is nonetheless supported by by no means secondary technical features: it mounts a Leica DC Vario-Summicron lens (equivalent to 24-90mm in 35mm format), very bright and versatile, suitable for various uses: perfect for spontaneous photos, it is also well-suited for architectural photography, for example.
The CCD sensor resolution is 10 megapixels, thus capable of producing more than good images even in low light conditions, all of which can be controlled via the 3-inch display, which also serves as the focal point for user-configurable settings.
Ultimately, the technical specifications of the Leica D-LUX 5 Titanium remain unchanged – and therefore identical – compared to its larger sibling, the “base” camera from which the special Titanium edition was developed: this refers to the Leica D-Lux 5, an excellent high-end compact camera in itself, all the more so in this unprecedentedly elegant and premium guise.
The price of the Leica D-Lux 5 Titanium is 980 euros, which includes a license for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3.
