Zyxel Introducing the industry’s first tri-mode managed hybrid switch: the GS2220 series can be managed in the Cloud, CLI, or SNMP, giving businesses the power and flexibility to adapt to the “new normal.”

There GS2220 series can be managed in Cloud, CLI or SNMP, giving businesses the power and flexibility to adapt to the “new normal.”Zyxel Networks, a leading provider of secure, AI- and cloud-based enterprise and home solutions, today introduced its new Layer 2 hybrid switches from the GS2220Designed to deliver exceptional performance combined with unprecedented flexibility to business and school networks, offering the industry's first tri-mode management in the cloud, CLI (Command Line Interface) and SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol).
“The disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic have taught a hard lesson about the value of having flexible management options ready to handle any scenario,” said Crowley Wu, vice president of Zyxel's Networking SBU. “Having a reliable network with zero-touch provisioning allows network administrators to operate while maintaining social distancing during this critical time.”
The key feature of the tri-mode switch is undoubtedly the cloud management provided by Nebula, Zyxel's Cloud Networking solution, which gives IT administrators the ability to monitor and control networks anywhere, anytime from a single centralized interface. Nebula is designed to support business, offering more efficient deployment, configuration, and analysis.
All switches GS2220 They come with a one-year Nebula Pro license included. This way, companies can familiarize themselves with the benefits and ease of transitioning to centralized, remote cloud management.
If cloud management isn't the best option, administrators can opt for local management via the CLI, a mode that offers deep granularity and full read/write access. Alternatively, there's SNMP management mode, which provides a comprehensive management database and simplifies and allows for the control of devices from various vendors across networks.
Stable, silent and compact
The layer 2 switches must support the growing burden of convergence as networks unify data, voice, video, e-commerce and other applications. This means stability is crucial for L2 switches, and Zyxel has developed significant hardware and software updates for the GS2220. The switches feature improved reliability, particularly with 2x stronger surge protection and 4x stronger surge protection.
Additionally, the switches can be conveniently placed in offices and other workspaces thanks to their new, quiet fanless design. Finally, the GS2220 features a smaller footprint, leaving plenty of room in racks or desktops.
Full port support
The flexibility of the series GS2220 extends beyond port management. The switches support all L2 applications, offering up to 44 Gigabit RJ45 ports along with Gigabit copper/fiber combo ports or two SFP ports. Models with fewer ports are also available for networks that want to utilize more advanced L2 management features at the access layer.
