Over the next few weeks GoogleYouTube will gradually roll out the ability to choose a handle for all channels. Your handle is unique to your channel and will be used to mention you in comments, Community posts, and more.

YouTube handle

Users will receive another email (after the first submission) and a notification in YouTube Studio when you can choose yours. In most cases, if you already have a custom URL for your channel, we'll assign it to you as a default. handleIf you'd like a different handle than the one assigned, you can change it. If you don't currently have a custom URL, you can still choose a handle for your channel.

Starting November 14, 2022, if you haven't already selected a handle for your channel, YouTube will automatically assign one to you. You can change the assigned handle in YouTube Studio if you wish.

What is a Handle?

A YouTube handle is a new way for viewers to find your channel and interact with you. Unlike channel names, handles are unique to each creator, making it easier to establish a distinct presence on YouTube.

Handles and URLs

Your new handle will be included in your channel URL. In most cases, your custom URL will become your handle. You can use your handle to direct people to your channel, even when they're not on YouTube. For example, if your handle is @user123, your channel URL will be https://youtube.com/@user123. Existing channel URLs will still work.
