Microsoft Italy announced a detailed plan of initiatives dedicated to Cybersecurity – the Cybersecurity Skilling program – the first of a series of initiatives in the field of cybersecurity that sees 30 free online and in-person courses concentrated in the territory in just one month. The training courses are aimed at companies and Microsoft partners, already established professionals and students to reduce the skills mismatch in the field of cybersecurity and will involve over 1000 people in this first phase.

Cyber threats around the world have been growing at an alarming rate in recent years: in 2021, the Microsoft Security team blocked more than 9.6 billion malware threats and more than 35.7 billion phishing and other malicious emails. Microsoft Security actively monitors more than 35 ransomware families and 250 unique actors across countries, ransomware, and criminal activity, and Microsoft technology blocks more than 900 brute force password-stealing attacks every second. These numbers make it clear that specialized professionals are needed: while the Cybersecurity Specialist it is among the 25 most sought-after professions in Italy (source: Linkedin report Lavori in Crescita 2022), on the other hand only 40% of workers have received specific training on cyber security (Censis Report – DeepCyber, April 2022).

In this scenario, starting this month, Microsoft Italy, together with the ecosystem of partners in the territory who are members of this new alliance, including Fondazione Mondo Digitale and Pipeline, offers a wide range of initiatives and training courses with the aim of supporting digital development and bridging the skills gap in cybersecurity.

For companies, Microsoft offers dedicated training courses aimed at obtaining globally recognized certifications with the goal of bridging knowledge gaps and implementing knowledge of Microsoft solutions. For students, together with Fondazione Mondo Digitale, ad-hoc training courses have been developed to promote general knowledge of the concepts of cloud computing, security and compliance. For the upskilling of professionals, together with Pipeline, advanced courses have been developed to spread the skills needed to implement security controls and identity management solutions based on Microsoft Azure. The training proposal is completed by initiatives on the Cloud Champion platform dedicated to the ecosystem of Microsoft partners.
