BlackBerry increasingly looks towards Android

BlackBerry’s future could be increasingly dominated by the Android operating system.

In the world of smartphones and tablets, the real competition remains strongly tied to only two realities: iOS and Android.
Other operating systems do not seem to have made much of an impact on the hearts of mobile device users, for a variety of reasons which – however – are not the focus of this article.
We have just learned that a very well-known telephone company is about to evaluate a move – or at least a certain increasingly concrete interest – towards Android.
This is BlackBerry, which has been on the crest of the wave for years for creating devices that are particularly useful for work needs, rather than just pure and simple communication needs.
However, the proprietary operating system lacks a certain “verve” or more properly it lacks the same amount of applications that are developed every day for Android and iOS.
After having launched the BlackBerry Priv device, based on Android, the company's top management has apparently decided to continue working on devices that will run the green robot system.
It is the manager Damian Tay, senior director of BlackBerry, who supports a scenario that is much more than a simple hypothesis. He recently declared bluntly that "the future is Android", thus drawing a line towards this new landing.
It must be said that the transition will not only concern the operability of the device but will concern first and foremost the apps that are currently exclusively used by BlackBerry: the latter, created within the company, are undergoing a revision to make them available for Android; these are mostly apps dedicated to the business world, which have always been the heart of the projects and BlackBerry business.
However, BlackBerry OS will not be abandoned at all, as CEO John Chen was keen to point out: new updates to the operating system, which has now reached version 10, will be released soon to continue to guarantee useful support for BlackBerry device owners.

Furthermore, always on this front, some technical measures are being strengthened, in order to be able to guarantee the necessary safety required by bodies such as government agencies, after the protocols in this sense must be rather rigid.
According to these brief but important statements, the medium-term future of BlackBerry would seem to be marked by a great deal of research into Android environments, by the imminent release of a new Android smartphone and – on the contrary – by no new models equipped with BlackBerry OS.
